Manage Your Subscription

PaperLink uses a recurring subscription model. You pick a plan, pay monthly or annually, and your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period.

Only the team owner can manage the subscription. Other team members can view the current plan but cannot make changes.

Open Billing Settings

  1. Click Settings in the sidebar.
  2. Go to Team Settings > Billing & Plans.

This page shows your current plan, billing period, next billing date, and feature usage.

Subscribe to a Plan

  1. On the Billing & Plans page, browse the available plans.
  2. Toggle between Monthly and Annually to compare pricing. Annual billing includes a discount.
  3. Click Upgrade on the plan you want.
  4. Complete payment through the checkout form. Your card is saved for automatic renewals.

Your new plan activates immediately after payment.

Start a Free Trial

If your team is on the Free plan and has never used a trial before, you can try a paid plan for 7 days without entering payment details.

  1. On the Billing & Plans page, click Start Free Trial.
  2. The trial activates immediately. A banner in the sidebar shows how many days remain.

When the trial ends, your team reverts to the Free plan automatically. No charge occurs unless you upgrade during or after the trial.

Each team gets one free trial. Once used, the trial option no longer appears.

Upgrade Your Plan

Upgrading moves you to a higher plan immediately.

  1. On the Billing & Plans page, click Upgrade on the new plan.
  2. Complete payment. PaperLink calculates the prorated amount based on unused days from your current plan.

Your new limits and features apply right away.

Downgrade Your Plan

Downgrading moves you to a lower plan at the end of your current billing period.

  1. On the Billing & Plans page, click Downgrade on the plan you want to switch to.
  2. A confirmation appears showing the effective date.

You keep full access to your current plan until the billing period ends. On renewal, the new plan takes effect and your recurring payment amount adjusts automatically.

A Downgrade Scheduled banner appears on the billing page with the exact date. You can cancel the scheduled downgrade at any time before it takes effect by clicking Cancel Downgrade.

Cancel Your Subscription

Canceling your subscription is the same as downgrading to the Free plan.

  1. On the Billing & Plans page, click Downgrade on the Free plan.
  2. Confirm the change.

Your paid features remain active until the end of your current billing period. After that, your team moves to the Free plan. No further charges occur.

Changed your mind? Click Cancel Downgrade before the billing period ends to keep your current plan.

What Happens to Your Data

When you downgrade or cancel:

  • Your data is preserved. Documents, links, clients, and invoices remain in your account.
  • Feature limits apply. If your usage exceeds the new plan's limits, you cannot create new items until you are within limits. Existing items are not deleted.
  • Active sharing links continue to work. Recipients can still access shared documents.

Billing Cycle

  • Monthly subscriptions renew every 30 days.
  • Annual subscriptions renew every 12 months at a discounted rate.
  • Payments are processed automatically using the card on file.
  • If a payment fails, your subscription enters a grace period. Update your payment method to restore access.
